El Popular Chorizo & Pork Tacos Recipe

Chorizo & Pork Tacos

Prep Time: 15 min.     
Start to Finish: 1 hour 30 min.     
8 Servings


  • 1 link (6 oz.) El Popular Chorizo
  • 1 can (8oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 orange
  • ¼ cup water
  • 16-18 tortillas
  • 3 pounds Pork Butt steak
  • 1 or 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/8 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 12 oz. Queso Fresco (crumbling cheese)


  • ½ head shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato diced
  • 1 medium onion chopped


  1. Dice pork, add salt and pepper, oregano, garlic, and water.
  2. Cook for 40 minutes over low flame.
  3. While pork is simmering, removing casing from chorizo and cook slowly for 8-10 minutes.
  4. Add pork butt to chorizo and tomato sauce and simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
  5. When complete, squeeze orange juice over meat mixture.
  6. Fill tortillas or taco shells.
  7. For Added flavor garnish with shredded lettuce, tomato, onion and grated cheese.
